learned a great deal and had some unique experiences. I also learned a great
deal about people when trapped in a crisis situation. We encountered a
situation and because of limited casing integrity, it was necessary to turn a
well loose to the atmosphere. The gas as 12% H2S and we were in a tropical depression
with 30-ft. seas. We abandoned all but essential personnel from the ship in the
most unrehearsed manner imaginable. Bringing the 80-man crew down to 19, I was

practiced safety procedures are a must in this business.
