1/08 - Present  James E. Smith & Associates, Inc. Engineer in Training

 

5/07 – 8/07      EOG Resources – Drilling Engineering Intern

-Developed an entire drilling procedure for an upcoming well and observed the progress.

-Updated and improved bit performance graphs for 5 active fields to provide a side by side comparison of bit performance per field.

-Conducted a study on long string cement volumes for a particular field and presented information and recommendations to Engineers and Management.

-Spent multiple days on a rig to oversee and learn about operations from pre-spud through surface drill out, including BOP testing, formation integrity testing, casing, cement, etc.

-Worked daily with Drilling Engineers and Managers, as well as Production Engineers and Managers, to overview drilling and completion operations.

-Attended weekly team meetings, weekly operations meetings, and weekly company meetings.

 

5/06 – 8/06      Hughes Christensen – Technical Engineering Intern

                        -Worked daily with Engineering & Marketing representatives on projects for leading operators.

-Used internal software to evaluate Tricone and PDC bit performance for direct use with customers.

-Used Rocky03 software to construct plots for lithology interpretation and rock strength analysis.

-Used bit records to assist in analyzing bit performance.

-Accompanied Texas area Field Representatives in rig visits to meet with company man and discuss current and future operations.

-As part of Intern Training, attended courses that covered basic drilling principles, IADC dull grading, product evaluation, bit design, and manufacturing specifications.

-Toured South Texas area repair facility to watch PDC repair.

 

08/05               Camp Bevo – Halliburton Energy Institute

Participated in a full week of hands-on experience at Halliburton’s training facility in Duncan, OK.  Witnessed a relatively small fracture job, witnessed a larger CO2 fracture job, toured various Halliburton facilities, including manufacturing, research and development, operational bases, and received presentations covering innovation and teamwork.

 

05/05 – present            Proctor, PGE Learning Resource Center

Supervise the Learning Resource Center in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering building and handle printer and computer problems.
